Sponsorship

MAKE YOUR SPONSORSHIP COUNT.

Many business owners love to give back to their community. They do this by sponsoring fundraising events, or by donating products / service vouchers. However, when sponsoring an event or donating goods or services to a silent auction, gift hamper or raffle prizes, many business owners are missing out on low cost opportunities to attract new clients.

We’ve organised and attended many fund raising events, which are solidly backed by local businesses. Sadly, many only provide a voucher, or product to have on display at the event.

By adding some additional information and visually exciting add ons to your sponsorship, all attendees have an increased chance of noticing your wonderful donation and contacting you to buy.

Here’s our low cost (and in many cases, no cost) tips that help give you financial returns for your sponsorship or product donation.

INCLUDE PLENTY OF THESE.

Always include a flyer, poster, or an easy to see (and read) explanation  of your product / service. If you do not have anything, make it. Explain the benefits, and of course, include your contact details. This will most likely be displayed with your product during the event where EVERYONE can see it. If you have some, give the organisers a small bundle.

TELL YOUR STORY.

Many events have programs, or newsletters (ie schools and sports clubs] and they are often happy to include additional information about their sponsors. Simply create a short article (200 words would be your maximum) which explains more about your product or service. If you have this ready to go, you can easily include it with your donation. Don’t forget to include an image, your logo and web address.

OBTAIN EASY REFERRALS.

Include a stack of business cards. This is the easiest way for attendees to grab your contact details, call you, or pass it onto to someone they think would be interested in your product or service.

DON’T OVERLOOK THIS.

Small samples will always make your donation display stand out. Plus, people can be encouraged to take them. Always have your contact details attached to samples.

ADD VISUAL IMPACT TO YOUR SPONSORSHIP.

Instead of only having a voucher on display, or awarded as a prize, create a small, cost effective hamper. These look great and are more appealing. Include inexpensive items that are associated with your voucher. For massage services, add some small scented candles, for car cleaning services, perhaps one of those little air fresheners. Think laterally.

PROMOTE YOUR SUPPORT.

Use social media and your client newsletter to show current and prospective clients of the great work you are doing in the community. Give the event organisers an image and as paragraph of text so they can post about your donation on their social media pages. Ask them to tag your business as well. Many are starved for content and will gladly oblige. Don’t forget to post your involvement on your own social media pages, and tag the event as well.
